Kinetica Sports will be the Official Sponsor of energy and recovery products for this years Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon. Kinetica gels will be available on the marathon route, and kinetica recovery products will be available to all in the Kinetica recovery tent after the finish line.
As the evenings darken and the first signs of frost appear, the countryside prepares to hibernate through another Irish winter. As if to challenge the gloom of winter, a strange phenomenon can be seen wearing luminous clothing around the roads of West Cork, bringing light and much needed energy: Runners! Yes, look out your front window on any given evening and you will notice dozens of people, many neighbors and friends, plodding and striding over the pavements and tarmac in your locality. Clonakilty Road Runners Athletics Club holds its first members meeting at 8.30pm on Monday 10th of October in the Quality Hotel. Adults fee for sign up for the remainder of the year is €17. An AGM will be scheduled for next January when fees will become €25 for adult membership and a new committee will be elected.
Walkers on all routes of the Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon are welcome. We have officially stated that the course time limit is 7 hours, however we will ensure that every person that enters the course will finish at an open finish line with a welcome from the race team as if they were first over the line. Please ensure to wear appropriately warm clothing and bring high visibility gear if you believe that you will be on the roads after dark. The marathon sweep car will follow and guide those at the tail of the field home.
Dia Dhiabh, Hello All, With Dublin marathon and our presence at the Dublin Marathon Expo just around the corner, the excitement is palpable. Many runners choose not to register for another event until they have completed the event they are focusing on - ie. Dublin and Clonakilty. All of the organising crew will be at the Dublin Expo this year cheering for you - the runners and hopefully helping with any pre race jitters or aches with our fascial stretch specialist, Fiona O'Donnell present to provide free therapy. Be sure to call to us to say hello. Just remember that if you have only pre registered for the Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon, you will not be allocated a timing chip and a number - if you registered but did not receive a confirmation email, please contact us.
