| Dear Participant,
If you feel your question has not been answered satisfactorily and you would like further information, please email us on info@runclon.ie and we would be delighted to respond on an individual basis.
Please read through the answers below first.

When does registration close?
online registration closes on the 26th of November at midnight.
Can I register on the day?
While a limited number of registrations will be available on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th, we request that all participants register online or by post before the 26th of November so that we can finalise Tshirt, goody bag and medal numbers.
What time does the Race start?
9am for all races.
How do I get my race pack?
Race packs can be collected from race HQ on Friday 9th from 10am-10pm and from 6am-8am on race day. Goody bags, tshirts, race numbers and timing chips will be available for collection.
Will there be energy gels/drinks/water on the course?
Kinetica will be supplying gels - these will be available from mile 18 on the full marathon course. Energy drinks will also be available at intermittant water stations - please check the maps online at www.runclon.ie. Tipperary Water will be provided every 3 miles in sports top bottles.
Will there be toilets on the course?
Due to demand, toilet facilities will be available at the following points on the course: Start line, 5.5m (1/2 and full), 13m (full), 17m (red strand-full), 22m (Dunmore-full).
Is there a facility for baggage drop?
Yes, you will be able to drop your bag in race HQ before the race and collect afterwards. Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon cannot accept responsibility for valuables taken from bags so please lock all valuables such as wallets, phones etc in your car. You will be given a unique number which will be written on the bottom corner of your race bib.
Is there chip timing?
Chip timing is provided for all entrants by champion chip timing. The chip is attached to your laces on your runners - It CANNOT work if it is in your race shorts! You must cross the timing mats at 5.5m (1/2 & full) and 13m (full) to validate your time.
Can I change which race I want to run on the day?
If you choose to change your race distance before the deadline, you may do so through contact with the organisers. You cannot change your distance on race day as your timing chip will already be programmed to a specific course. If you decide to run a different course on race day-you will not be awarded an official time.
Will a map of the route be available on the day?
Maps will be available at registration on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th which will show the course routes and the location of all toilet facilities, energy drink and gel stations and water stations.
Are there shower facilities for after the race?
The local GAA club have offered the use of their facilities to runners and walkers. The club is located at the far side of Clonakilty town on the Dunmanway road.
Where are the start and finish lines in relation to each other?
They are one and the same. The Waterfront building is the location of the start and finish line.
Will there be pacers?
We are currently seeking pacers that are familiar with the course - updates on this issue will be available through our facebook page or on our website www.runclon.ie
Will there be massage therapists available on the day?
There will be a number of therapists available on the day to treat runners. These therapists are working on a voluntary basis and will not seek payment for treatments given on the day.
“I am a Walker - can I enter the race even though it might take longer than 6 hours”
Individuals who wish to walk any of the 3 distances are welcome. We will remain at the finish line with a sweeping car on the course until the last participant is home* while it is safe to do so. We would ask that dogs & bicycles not be brought along during the race this year as they can cause significant disruption to race proceedings.
We would also ask that as the roads are open, runners should not wear earphones and should be aware of their surroundings at all times. Runners and walkers will be allowed to remain on the course for as long as it is safe - if visibility is significantly reduced, the sweeping car will clear any individuals remaining on the course. |
