The Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon - with a mix of three courses, Full
Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini-Marathon - is a new fixture on the Irish
running calendar. The race takes place on Saturday, December 10 2011, nicely
rounding out the running year’s calendar with a final burst of energy.
The Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon races will hit the scenic roadways,
byways and beach routes of this bustling West Cork town and region,
creating a heady and healthily challenging mix at a seasonally quiet
time of year for the sport. All races are run on sealed rural roads. Athletics Ireland race permit has been granted.
The entry fees reflect our intention to organize a high quality event with top class facilities for runners. The Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon is run on a not for profit basis. Any profit from the Marathon events will be used to support athletics in the local community.
The races will be chip timed over officially measured (Jones Counter measured) distances.
The event will carry full public liability insurance, medical & first aid support will be provided to an exceptionally high standard. There will also be a number of Sports Injury & Massage Therapists available on the day. Hydration & recovery fluids will also be provided throughout the races.
